Coming June 2026
About the Series
As the industry prepares for the next evolution of LEED, our LEED v5 Webinar Series offers a practical, insider look at what’s changing – and what it means for your work.
This multi-part virtual series kicks off with Resilience + Human Health Impact, exploring new prerequisites, health impact assessment tools and case studies in climate resilience planning. Next we turn to Construction and Contractors, highlighting how v5 reshapes construction documentation, collaboration and onsite implementation. Next, our LEED v5 O+M session dives into what’s new for existing buildings, the connection to decarbonization, performance metrics and documentation, and emerging tools that support operational excellence. Finally, our Energy & Decarbonization session examines how LEED v5 strengthens energy performance through updated ASHRAE baselines, electrification strategies, renewable energy integration, and grid-interactive design.
The LEED v5 webinars are eligible for AIA LU/HSW and LEED-specific (pending approval) continuing education credits.

LEED v5 is Here: FAQs
What is LEED, and what is LEED v5?
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the world’s leading green building rating system. LEED provides a framework for designing, constructing and operating healthier, high-performing and more sustainable buildings across a wide range of projects.
LEED v5 is the latest version of the LEED green building rating system and the most significant update in over a decade. The framework places greater emphasis on decarbonization, climate resilience, human health, and measurable building performance. It will affect how AEC teams and building owners and operators approach project delivery and operations moving forward. The BE+ LEED v5 in Practice series is designed to help industry professionals understand and apply these changes in real-world projects.
The LEED Green Associate or Advanced Professional (AP) credential distinguishes those with advanced knowledge in green building principles and LEED rating systems. Professional experience on LEED projects is strongly recommended for the LEED AP credential.
How do I navigate the transition from LEED v4 to v5?
Built Environment Plus offers a variety of resources to help get you up to speed on the new version of the rating system, and we’re here to help you figure out how to get started.
BE+ is launching a LEED v5 in Practice virtual webinar series, starting June, to offer a practical, insider look at what’s changing – and what it means for your work. Topics in the series will include:
-
- LEED v5 for Resilience & Health: Designing Buildings that Protect People and Communities
- LEED v5 for Construction & Contractors: Delivering High-Performance Projects on the Jobsite
- In-Person LEED v5 Workshop: Building, Design + Construction (BD+C) / Operations + Maintenance (O+M)
- LEED v5 for Energy: Designing for a Low-Carbon Future
- LEED v5 Materials Deep Dive
- Navigating LEED v5
- LEED v5 for Design Teams
- LEED v5 for Construction Teams
In addition to this LEED v5 training, BE+ also offers exam prep support for the following LEED accreditations:
-
- LEED Green Associate
- LEED Advanced Professional (AP) Building Design + Construction (LEED AP BD+C)
- LEED AP Operations + Maintenance (LEED AP O+M)
- LEED AP Interior Design + Construction (LEED AP ID+C)
BE+ instructors are industry experts from leading architecture, design, engineering, and sustainability consulting firms who bring relevant lessons learned from working on their own projects. Join one of our courses to tackle your LEED v5 questions with the best of the best!
Bulk pricing discounts are available for 5+ participants, and these courses can be scheduled privately for your firm if a public offering is not on the calendar. Get in touch to learn more!
Our Communities also hold roundtables to address specific LEED v5 concerns, such as v5 for Materials and Human Health or v5 Energy credits. Learn more about BE+ Communities and upcoming roundtables here.
When will the accreditation exams switch from LEED v4 to v5?
With the upcoming transition to LEED v5 exams, now is also the time to think about your credentials.
-
- The LEED Green Associate v4 exam retired on April 26, 2026. The v5 beta exam launched April 28, 2026.
- The LEED Advanced Professional (AP) v4 exam retires on June 28, 2026. The v5 beta exam launches June 30-August 31, 2026
Why should I become LEED Green Associate or LEED AP?
- Green jobs are in demand. Passing a LEED exam sets you apart from the pack by validating your field expertise.
- Increase your green building knowledge. Studying for a LEED exam provides you with fundamental knowledge of green building concepts, including transportation, energy, water and air quality.
- Join a global network of sustainability professionals and advocates. Green building is global, and when you earn a LEED credential, you join an international community of professionals committed to better building, design and operations.
Why should I take the beta exam now?
Beta exam candidates are eligible for a 30% discount during the beta period, which is stackable with USGBC member pricing. Students are additionally eligible to take the exam for $70, rather than the full cost of $180.
Additionally, beta exam takers earn 2 GBCI CE hours towards maintaining their accreditation. CE hours are applicable to other similar credentials, including AIA, SITES AP, and more.
What CE credits can I earn towards my LEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation?
The LEED v5 webinars are eligible for LEED-specific and AIA LU / HSW continuing education (CE) credits.
Most other Built Environment Plus courses are eligible to be self-reported for GBCI CE credits, however only the LEED v5 webinars are eligible for LEED-specific credits at this time. BE+ provides certificates for self-reporting to GBCI and other agencies, including AIA.
Additionally, beta exam takers earn 2 GBCI CE hours towards maintaining their accreditation. CE hours are applicable to other similar credentials, including AIA, SITES AP, and more.
Will the transition to LEED v5 impact my work?
The transition impacts architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, project owners, and others pursuing LEED certification or recertification on projects. LEED v5 may impact your work due to prerequisite requirements that need to be integrated into the project earlier and long-term monitoring through the Arc platform (you may need to create a USGBC account or sign in to access the platform), instead of one-time documentation. Project teams will be able to apply for certification in Arc. In addition to registering and setting up their project, teams can explore credit forms, upload documentation and begin their certification journey.
What resources does USGBC offer to navigate the LEED v5 updates?
A robust suite of LEED v5 educational materials is provided by USGBC and BE+. Find dozens of calculators in the credit library to facilitate your work. For-purchase LEED v5 reference guide bundles will replace the free preview editions and will provide added context, further explanations, and updates based on community feedback.
