Tally
Hours: 8
Express Program: NOT YET

Instructor:

Learning Objectives:

- Know how to evaluate the environmental impact of materials at any stage of the design process
- Be able to conduct an LCA that meets the Whole Building LCA requirements of LEED v4 and v4.1
- Learn how to interpret and communicate the results from an LCA

Course Description:

This workshop demystifies the important practice of life cycle assessment (LCA). Through direct instruction in the Tally software, participants will gain the skills needed to calculate the life cycle impacts of buildings, and to use the results during the design process to evaluate design options and identify low‐impact materials. During the workshop, presenters will first introduce the core concepts of LCA and explain the underlying theory, terminology, and techniques necessary to conduct an LCA. The participants will then explore. The life cycle stages of buildings through a series of interactive exercises, followed by direct interaction with the Tally software. Using Tally, participants will generate a series of comparative LCAs, interpret the results, and use the output to meet the LEED v4 and v4.1 Whole Building LCA credit.
