Living Product Challenge

Presented by Greg Norris, Chief Scientist at the International Living Future Institute
Imagine products that regenerate our natural systems and improve life. The International Living Future Institute has been inviting manufacturers to use the Living Product Challenge framework to rethink the way products are made. Instead of trying to be “less bad,” ILFI is inviting manufacturers to creat goods that have a positive impact. Using the Living Product Challenge framework, we can create Living Products that are:
- Healthy and free of toxins
- Socially responsible and respect the rights of workers
- Net positive and benefit both people and the environment
Greg Norris, ILFI’s Chief Scientist, will present this exciting framework, along with the concept of Handprinting.
Handprints measure positive impacts that an actor causes in relation to business as usual. Designers of products, users of products, both organizations and individuals, can all create handprints. The ability to generate, measure, and extend our handprints opens up the possibility for any organization or individual to become “Net Positive”, giving more than we take in relation to each category of impact.
