Intro to WELL Building Standard

About the Training
This course provides an overview of the WELL Building Standard ideology, structure, and certification process. Participants will learn the medical basis for the seven concept categories, including: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind. Design and construction strategies to create healthy buildings will additionally be covered. Finally, participants will learn how to reinvent buildings that are better for both people and the planet, using the WELL Building Standard as the framework. This course is intended for building industry professionals. It will be held virtually and is a combination of presentation and discussion.

Full refunds are available only if written notice is provided 7 days prior to course start date. There will be no refund if less than one week’s notice is given. Please note: Full refunds will be issued less the standard processing fee. In general, rescheduling is always preferred over refunds. Registration transfers are only allowed for rescheduling to a future training and cannot be transferred between individuals.
This training is eligible for 2 AIA LU / HSW continuing education credits. AIA membership information will be collected from attendees by BE+ during the training.
This is a live, online training led by Michael Munn with The Green Engineer.
Michael Munn, LEED AP, WELL Faculty, CPHC, joined The Green Engineer in 2015 as a Sustainability Consultant. Michael’s expertise resides in providing LEED and WELL project management guidance, and assisting owners and their facility managers, architects and their consultants, and contractors, through design and construction of LEED and WELL certified projects. Michael currently serves as the Director of Health and Wellness Services.
Learning Objectives
1. Upon completion, participants will be able to articulate the financial, societal, and environmental benefits of WELL certification.
2. Participants will be able to identify the role of the International Well Building Institute and the WELL Building Standard in reinventing buildings that are better for both people and the planet.
3. Participants will be able to recognize the structure of the WELL Building Standard and summarize the certification process.
4. Participants will be able to explain the seven concepts of the WELL Building Standard, the strategies to achieve them, and the health impacts they address.

Express Grant Eligibility
Employers with 100 or fewer Massachusetts, W-2 employees are eligible to receive Express Program grants. Express Program grant applications must be submitted no fewer than 21 days before the training date. The following documentation is required to apply:
Signed Form W-9
Certificate of Good Standing (COGS) from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, dated within 6 months from the date of application submission
Certificate of Compliance from the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) that is not expired on the date of application submission
The contracting period of approved Express Grants begins 21 days after the grant application date and ends one year from this date. All training must be completed within the contract period to be eligible for reimbursement.
