Central MA Presinar: Pioneering the Way to LEED v4
The Library! At Bown Crossing project is one of the first endeavors to pursue certification under the new LEED v4 BD+C rating system. We invite you to explore the building design concepts and construction implementation regarding both design and LEED in an in-depth analysis.
The project team chose to implement LEED v4 before the registration deadline was established, resulting in a truly pioneering effort to certify before most projects considered taking the plunge. This choice was a collaborative decision between the design team, construction team, and key stakeholders.
In this course, lessons learned from this project to achieve LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction Silver Certification are analyzed to provide current and future project teams with best practices for implementing the new rating system effectively and efficiently. v4 is here, but there’s nothing to fear!
Objectives
- Identify challenges that the Bown Library! project team faced when pursuing the Low-emitting materials credit of the LEED v4 BD+C rating system.
- Examine how the Integrative Process credit of the LEED v4 BD+C rating system effected the pre-design, design, and construction phases of the Bown Library! project.
- List the Building Product Disclosure and Optimization credits of the LEED v4 BD+C rating system that the project team chose to pursue during the construction phase kick-off meeting.
- Apply the best practice strategies identified in this course to future LEED v4 BD+C rating system project(s).
