About SMMA:
SMMA is currently seeking a Sustainable Design Analyst to join our design practice, working with SMMA’s Sustainability Group. The Sustainability Group’s mission is to promote the implementation and coordination of sustainable design practices across our firm’s Design Disciplines. We inspire teams to commit to advanced sustainability by promoting a culture of curiosity, thought leadership and continuous improvement. About the Role:
This position requires an individual who demonstrates a passion for sustainability in the built environment, advanced energy efficiency and carbon reduction. This individual must be able to work in a team environment while working independently on special projects. The candidate will work with our team of sustainability experts, conducting energy efficiency analysis, daylighting analysis, building systems’ optimization and advanced energy performance solutions, LEED and/or WELL project coordination and post-occupancy evaluation data analysis. The candidate will be encouraged to promote sustainable design and advanced energy efficiency knowledge within the firm and thought leadership in the industry.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their previous work experience, personal and professional references, and interviews.
Responsibilities:

- Provides support to project teams for energy analysis using energy modeling (EQuest).
- Provides coordination and management of LEEDv4 and/or WELL and Fitwel certification documentation.
- Provides support to project teams for embodied carbon analysis (Tally, EPIC, CARES)
- Provides support to project teams for advanced building performance, sustainable design methodologies and emerging technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and/or Architecture.
- Proficient with EQuest (3-5 years’ experience)
- Have experience in conducting energy modeling per ASHRAE 90.1 standard for Code compliance, LEED and/or utility incentives programs.
- Thermal enclosure performance/building science knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- LEED GA/AP, PHI and/or PHIUS accreditation and/or WELL AP a plus
- Modeling experience in THERM and WUFI a plus
- Daylight modeling experience in Climate Studio a plus
