SUMMARY:High-Performance Building for Carpenters
DESCRIPTION:Four 5-Hour Sessions from February 6th to February 27th\, 1:00-6:00pm\nAbout the Training \nThis in-person training teaches carpenters how to apply fundamental building skills to high-performance construction projects. Topics focus on the four layers of a high-performance house: water\, air\, vapor\, and thermal. Students will learn high-performance essentials through building science lessons\, hands-on practice with mock-up assemblies\, and project management training. The multi-faceted learning approach provides carpenters with a holistic understanding of high-performance construction from building science to install. This training is taught by two sustainable building experts accompanied by guest speakers representing materials manufacturers and vendors. \nRegistration closes on January 31st. \nCancellation Policy: Full refunds are available only if written notice is provided 7 days prior to course start date. No refund is available if under a week’s notice is given. Please note: full refunds will be issued less the standard processing fee. In general rescheduling is always preferred over refunds. Registration transfers are only allowed for rescheduling to a future training and cannot be transferred between individuals. \nContinuing Education Credits: Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License credits are available for this course at an additional cost ($25 per credit). SUMMARY:Introduction to Passive House Multi-Family Building
DESCRIPTION:For many teams\, it is an almost impossible challenge to simultaneously deliver high performance\, cost efficient buildings while maintaining high customer satisfaction and profitability. It is not uncommon for high performance commercial buildings to cost 10% -20% more to build than conventional buildings. Adam Cohen of Passiv Science has been designing and building Passive House Commercial Buildings at costs comparable to typical new construction and is achieving Passive House level results. This workshop will explain the basics of Passive House design principles specific to Multifamily Buildings\, we will also examine aspects of Integrated Project Management as will details\, equipment\, controls\, built examples and areas for capturing money typically left on the table in conventional design-bid-build project delivery situations.\nDescription of Event\n\nThe basics of Passivhaus\nThe basic physics\nThe standards\nModeled vs actual performance\nMarket rate implementation\nInnovative Design and Production Methods\nBuilt Examples\n\nDescription of Event\nThis event is designed to bring together design\, development and construction teams with the goal of both education and networking.
