Sustainability Project Manager | Massachusetts Institute of Technology
The MIT Department of Facilities seeks a sustainability project manager to serve as an important resource for sustainability best practices and represent DOF project teams in promoting sustainability on projects on campus. Responsibilities include developing alignment along sustainable design and LEED requirements; project benchmarking and goal setting; assisting with cost analysis; identifying, developing, supporting, and managing sustainability initiatives/projects to advance the Institute’s sustainability efforts and support its energy and GHG reduction goals; streamlining internal processes; preparing and delivering presentations; and collaborating with various stakeholders and project teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, or related field
- Five years of experience working in sustainability in the built environment
- Strong working knowledge of building project management, including planning, design, construction, and turnover
- Knowledge of sustainability certifications (LEED, Fitwel, ILFI, etc.)
- Knowledge of green building strategies, including life cycle cost analysis, energy modeling, energy efficiency in MEP systems and envelopes, renewable energy, water conservation, waste management, resiliency, healthy materials, and embodied carbon
- Knowledge and understanding of MA energy codes/regulations
- Excellent planning, scheduling, organizational, interpersonal, analytical/quantitative, and oral and written communication skills
- Systematic and self-motivated approach to responsibilities
- Ability to support/manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to give presentations and prepare written reports
- Ability to independently resolve basic issues and/or escalate if necessary
- Ability to work as part of a team to achieve outcomes, listening to other opinions and incorporating those ideas into the work plan
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and form alliances with a variety of peers/clients and to liaise effectively with professional staff throughout MIT
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in institutional environments
- LEED AP BD+C certification
