SUMMARY:PH 120: The Architect's Role in Passive Building
DESCRIPTION:About the TrainingPH 120: The Architect’s Role in Passive Building is a course for practitioners who have completed PHMass’ PH101: An Introduction to Passive Building or have equivalent experience. Moving beyond foundational building science\, this session focuses on the architect’s practical responsibility as the central coordinator of a performance-based design. \nThe course centers on the systemic interdependence required of passive building\, illustrating how early decisions—such as building form—directly impact mechanical requirements and project viability. Participants will learn to navigate an integrated design process where architectural\, engineering\, and construction workflows co-evolve to meet Passive House standards. Key topics include airtightness requirements\, cost optimization\, energy budgets\, and managing complex building transitions. We also examine the architect’s role in construction-phase quality control and the documentation shifts necessary to translate certification targets from the drawing set to the field. This training provides a framework for navigating the specific architectural challenges of successful Passive House delivery. \nThis webinar is eligible for 2 AIA LU / HSW\, 1 Phius and 2 PHI continuing education credits. \n This is a live\, in-person training led by Beth Campbell with Passive House Massachusetts. Training will take place in Downtown Boston. Exact location provided upon registration. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Beth Campbell\, CPHB\, CPHT\, is the Education Program Director at Passive House Massachusetts with over 20 years of hands-on experience in residential passive building construction. SUMMARY:The Benefits of a Portfolio-level Plan for Building Performance Upgrades
DESCRIPTION:About the TrainingMost building owners tackle energy improvements one building at a time\, which can be slow\, expensive\, and miss opportunities to prioritize the most beneficial upgrades at the right time across a building portfolio. Through a cost-effective desktop assessment\, consultants provide a portfolio-level plan that can enable owners of multiple buildings to maximize energy savings\, take advantage of incentives\, and tackle aging equipment across a portfolio. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Building owners and operators\, property and facility managers of multiple buildings\, and energy and sustainability managers can benefit from this 1-hour webinar. Hear from an owner’s perspective on the value of this plan\, known in the industry as a Portfolio Decarbonization Roadmap. Learn about what’s included\, what’s not included\, and whether it’s right for you. \nThis webinar stems from the BETA: Roadmaps program\, funded by MassCEC\, to provide roadmaps for non-profits and public entities to decarbonize their building portfolios by 2050.
