SUMMARY:LEED v5 for Construction & Contractors: Delivering High-Performance Projects on the Jobsite
DESCRIPTION:About the TrainingAs LEED v5 raises the bar for performance\, transparency\, and accountability\, contractors are playing a more central role than ever in achieving certification outcomes. This session explores how construction teams directly influence credit achievement through jobsite practices\, documentation workflows\, and early collaboration with design teams. \nDesigned for general contractors\, construction managers\, and trade partners\, this webinar will break down what’s new in LEED v5 and what it means in practice—from aligning with frameworks like the Contractor’s Commitment to managing construction-phase requirements such as waste diversion\, indoor air quality (IAQ)\, and ESG reporting. \nThrough real-world insights and implementation strategies\, presenters will highlight how proactive contractor engagement can reduce risk\, streamline compliance\, and drive measurable sustainability outcomes on LEED v5 projects. \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 AIA LU / HSW and LEED-specific continuing education credits. \n This is a live\, online training led by Jennifer Taranto from STO Building Group and Kristin Brubaker from Green Badger.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jennifer Taranto serves as Vice President of Sustainability at STO Building Group and brings over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and construction. Passionate about reducing environmental impact\, she drives STOBG’s internal sustainability strategy\, helps clients define CSR goals\, guides project teams to achieve milestones\, and supports efforts to lower costs and emissions. A founder of Built Environment Plus\, Jennifer is a recognized leader in sustainable construction. Her accolades include WELL AP (2018)\, WELL Faculty (2019–2021)\, and LEED Fellow (2023). A sought-after speaker\, she holds a B.Sc. in Construction Engineering from North Carolina State University. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Kristin Brubaker is the Head of Sustainable Construction Solutions at Green Badger\, where she helps the construction industry move faster and smarter on LEED\, embodied carbon tracking\, ESG\, and green building certifications through software and education built specifically for AEC professionals. She has spent most of her career as the person construction teams call when they have a LEED question\, a sustainability goal they’re not sure how to hit\, or a project that needs someone who actually understands the job site. She built that foundation over nearly four years at Whiting-Turner as their Sustainability Practice Coordinator\, supporting projects with LEED\, Net Zero\, and embodied carbon goals while leading the company’s health\, wellness\, and sustainability initiatives. Outside of work\, Kristin serves on the Board of Directors of Green Building United. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register here\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learning Objectives\n 1. SUMMARY:LEED v5 Materials and Resources: From Embodied Carbon to Circularity
DESCRIPTION:About the TrainingThis course will provide an in-depth look at the Materials and Resources credit category within the LEED v5 Building Design and Construction (BD+C) rating system. It will cover the two prerequisites and five credits that span the rating system’s core impact areas of Decarbonization\, Quality of Life\, and Ecosystem Conservation and Restoration. Participants will learn how LEED v5 elevates embodied carbon assessment with a prerequisite requirement to quantify cradle-to-gate emissions across key material categories\, along with a new Embodied Carbon credit that provides multiple options for achievement. The session will examine the Building Product Selection and Procurement credit’s multi-attribute scoring framework\, which aligns with the Common Materials Framework. The presenters will also cover the updated Construction and Demolition Waste Diversion credit\, which places increased value on salvaged and source-separated materials over commingled recycling. \nThis webinar is eligible for 1 AIA LU / HSW and LEED-specific (pending approval) continuing education credits. \n This is a live\, online training led by Carrie Havey and Matthew Smith with The Green Engineer. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Carrie Havey\, LEED Fellow\, has been with The Green Engineer since 2010.
